There's a fascinating corner of social media where overgrown lawns meet acts of kindness. Videos of people restoring neglected yards have become oddly addictive — part ASMR, part visual satisfaction, part heartwarming service. But one landscaper has taken this viral trend to a whole new level, changing one woman's life along the way.

Spencer, a Kansas-based landscaper who owns SB Mowing, has built a massive following on TikTok by offering free lawn care to those in need. His videos capture him transforming overgrown, unmanageable yards into pristine, well-maintained spaces, often leaving viewers in awe. In his latest video, posted on January 9, Spencer helped Beth, an elderly disabled woman whose yard had become unmanageable.

Beth explained that the city had warned her that her unkempt lawn would cost her $240 in fines if it wasn’t cut, a bill she simply couldn’t afford. Without hesitation, Spencer offered to take care of her yard for free and even made improvements to her driveway to give her more space for her car.

"My prayers have been answered."

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Beth said to Spencer, “My prayers have been answered.” After seeing the finished work, she added with a smile, “Your work makes me twinkle.”

Millions of views and a wave of support

The video struck a chord with millions of viewers, amassing over 97 million views in just a few days. In the comments section, fans were quick to offer praise for Spencer’s generosity and brainstorm ways to provide ongoing support for Beth.

"You should be nominated for a humanitarian award seriously. ❤."

“You should be nominated for a humanitarian award seriously,” wrote @TheJulesMusicOfficial. “Not only did you help this woman out but you also gave her back control of a part of her life, that is priceless ❤.”

Another commenter, @jennyduff2597, shared an emotional response: “And when she said no one’s been happy to help her, I just started to cry. As a widow myself, I totally get that. Wow.”

@ritaspear1258 expressed gratitude for Spencer’s kindness, writing, “What a sweet elderly lady. Shame on the city. Shame on neighbors for not helping her out. Thank you Spencer for coming to her rescue. ❤”

Over $852k raised for Beth

On January 11, Spencer launched a GoFundMe page for Beth, and the response was nothing short of incredible. By January 17, the fundraiser had already amassed $852,640, far, far more than the initial $100,000 goal.

In the fundraiser’s description, Spencer detailed his plans to use the money to make Beth’s life more comfortable. The funds will go toward fixing accessibility issues around her home, including adding a ramp, building a new driveway, installing a chair lift to help her access her laundry room, replacing broken windows, and hiring a landscaping company to maintain her yard.

"I will make sure that the money goes towards fixing all of the items above or any other accessibility issues that Beth needs."

“I really appreciate everyone that donates to help Beth out,” Spencer wrote in the GoFundMe description. “I will make sure that the money goes towards fixing all of the items above or any other accessibility issues that Beth needs. Some leftover money will be given to her in cash, and the rest will be donated to local nonprofits to help other people in the same situation she is in.”

A ripple effect of kindness

Spencer’s story is a testament to how small acts of kindness can spark a much larger movement. What started as a simple lawn care project quickly grew into a community-driven effort to improve one woman’s quality of life — and perhaps inspire others to do the same.

If you'd like to contribute to Beth’s GoFundMe or support local nonprofits aiding people in similar situations, check out the fundraiser page and get involved. A little generosity can go a long way in making someone’s life a whole lot brighter.

Fifth-graders stand up for fellow student after substitute tell him 'homosexuality is wrong'

A substitute teacher at Deerfield Elementary School in Cedar Hills, Utah asked her class of fifth graders a traditional question: "What are you thankful for this year?" One boy gave his very serious answer: "I'm thankful that I'm finally going to be adopted by my two dads." The answer that should have elicited "Awwws!" and "Wows!" instead sent this substitute teacher on a homophobic rant. According toThe Salt Lake Tribune, "students later said that the substitute snapped, 'Why on earth would you be happy about that?"

A cereal box domino chain sparks chain reaction of generosity

In East Liverpool, Ohio, students and staff at Westgate School found a creative way to give back to their community while attempting to make history. As reported by WTOV9, their mission was to break the Guinness World Record for the largest cereal box domino chain. While they didn’t quite surpass the record of 12,952 boxes currently held by the national non-profit Move for Hunger, their effort resulted in a generous donation to the East Liverpool Salvation Army, bringing the holiday spirit to hundreds of families in need.

The project was about more than just breaking records. It became a unifying effort as the school community rallied together to collect thousands of cereal boxes. Each box represented not only a potential part of the domino chain but also a meal for families struggling with food insecurity. The spirit of giving, especially during the holiday season, was evident in every step of the process.
