Most drivers have little tricks to make life on the road easier. From emergency snacks in the glove box to DIY cupholders, everyone’s got their own system. But TikToker @asian.barbiee, aka Brittany Nash, has gone viral for using something totally unexpected—and surprisingly brilliant—to conquer one of driving’s most annoying struggles.
Nash says the moment someone new gets in her car, they always notice one thing: a pair of tongs in the console.
“Every time someone new sits in my car, they ask me, ‘Brit, why do you have a tong?’”
— @asian.barbiee
To that, she proudly replies, “Good question, but I have a better answer.”
It's a good question, and the answer is even better. TikTok | @asian.barbiee
She’s not a great driver, but she is resourceful
Nash openly admits she’s not the best behind the wheel. “I’m a bad driver. I’ve accepted it,” she says. The real issue? Struggling to get close enough to drive-thru windows or parking garage ticket machines. Anyone who’s ever awkwardly leaned halfway out their window (or fully opened their door) just to grab a receipt knows the pain.
“I can never get close enough to the ticket machine.”

Instead of suffering through the embarrassment, Nash grabs her trusty kitchen tongs. With a quick reach, she can grab her parking ticket, drop off cash, or collect a receipt—all without unbuckling her seatbelt or fumbling through the window.
“We buy my handy-dandy little tongs and get the ticket,” she says, demonstrating how easy it is.

Yes, people laugh—but she’s the one winning
Some drivers behind her might giggle at the sight of someone using cooking tools at a drive-thru, but Nash doesn’t care. She knows what works for her.
“Tongs for life.”

“I’d rather be the weirdo with the tongs who is low-key kinda smarter than be the person doing this,” she adds, miming a painful back-and-forth struggle to grab something from the window.
The internet is divided—but intrigued
The video had no shortage of reactions. Some commenters weren’t impressed, offering “just park better” as advice. User @therealestnoah6 wrote, “Just drive a little closer every time till you get it right.” And @snowyowl58 commented simply, “Couldn’t be me!”
But others totally got it. One person, @winnie20165, said, “I always have to park in, remove my seat belt and reach out the window or open my door.” Another fan, @ishitafterdiary2, commented, “Can confirm you always do this and it’s genius.”
“And you can use the back to punch in the numbers.”
— @alondono123
@rebeccajanesingh was all in: “I am doing this. Off I go to get silicone grip tongs.”
A small hack that actually makes life easier
For all the side-eyes and laughs, Nash’s idea is simple, cheap, and undeniably useful. It might not be the most stylish solution, but for those of us who dread the contortionist act of reaching a drive-thru window, it’s kind of brilliant.
So the next time you see someone wielding a pair of tongs at the wheel, don’t laugh—take notes.
