Entitlement can lead to some truly baffling behavior, and one woman at a local convenience store proved just that. Reddit user u/Lifeneedslubricant shared a story about an over-the-top grocery store encounter, where a woman demanded to pay less than her total bill—and expected the clerk to just accept it.

Instead of backing down, the quick-witted cashier stood firm. But the real twist came when the woman called her husband for backup—and he wasn’t on her side at all.

A chaotic checkout line

While chatting with the store owner’s daughter, the Redditor noticed a woman entering the store, heading straight for the shelves.

"In walks this woman, probably around my age, and she begins gathering items and dumping them on the counter, completely disregarding other customers who were already at it," she wrote.

The woman ignored the line and expected immediate service, even though the clerk was already helping another customer.

‘You should be serving me first’

Growing impatient, the woman cut in and insisted the cashier should stop helping the person in front of her.

"My items are on the counter, so you shouldn’t be serving anyone else as I’m clearly waiting to be served," she told the clerk.

When the customer who was actually next in line asked her to wait her turn, she huffed and puffed in frustration.

Trying to haggle at the grocery store

Finally, the clerk rang up her totalover $30—but instead of paying the full amount, she tried to negotiate.

"She then told him that she would only give $25 because that’s all she had," the Redditor explained.

The cashier, unfazed, told her she could remove some items to match what she could afford. That’s when she lost it.

"I need everything. You can’t deprive me of my needs. Who do you think you are? I'm calling my husband," she snapped.

The cashier’s response?

"Make sure he brings his wallet!"

Her dramatic ‘hostage’ call backfires

Determined to get her way, the woman called her husband and put him on speakerphone.

"Baby, I’m at this store, and the clerk is holding me and two other females hostage. You need to come and rescue us," she said.

Her husband, not buying into her nonsense, quickly shut her down.

"You can’t really be held hostage and be allowed to use your phone," he pointed out.

Then, he got to the real issue.

"So either you didn’t have enough money, or you’re trying to buy alcohol without [an] ID."

Husband tells her to put things back

Instead of rushing to "rescue" her, her husband took the store’s side.

He told her to leave behind the junk food—the chips, candy, and soda—because they already had enough at home.

Realizing she wasn’t winning this battle, she stamped her foot, hung up the phone, and begrudgingly removed items to match the $25 she had.

Reddit reacts: ‘I love her husband’

The internet loved how the husband handled the situation, with many saying he was clearly over her behavior.

u/SnooBunnies7461 commented:

"I love her husband. Sounds like he's over her sh#t but still kind about it."

Others weren’t surprised by her dramatic phone call, with u/NutAli joking:

"The police probably already know her and have banned her from calling them."

A reality check she wasn’t expecting

This woman thought she could bulldoze her way through the checkout line, pay whatever she felt like, and have her husband back her up. Instead, she got a dose of reality—from both the cashier and her own spouse.

One thing’s for sure: next time she calls her husband for backup, she might want to make sure he’s actually on her side.

Why millennials are saying Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince is the greatest TV dad ever

Sitcoms hit a peak in the 80s and 90s—and most Millennials can claim that they 'grew up' with them. A lot of time it was the father figures in these TV shows who proved to be standout characters, but one dad captured Millennials hearts over all the rest: Uncle Phil, played by actor James Avery in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Uncle Phil was deemed the best sitcom dad by Millennials, and he earned the title from one of his show's most impactful scenes from the episode "Papa's Got a Brand New Excuse" that aired in May 1994.

In it, Will (played by actor Will Smith) spends time with his dad Lou, who has been absent for the past 14 years. Uncle Phil is distrustful of Lou and protective over his nephew Will. So when Lou decides to dip out on a trip he planned with Will, Uncle Phil steps into Will's pain and supports him. It plays out as one of the most emotional scenes Millennials can remember–making Uncle Phil the best TV dad in their eyes.

Dad explains how he 'protects' daughter by taking her into the women's bathroom

While some states have made great progress in improving the child changing stations in men's bathrooms, many still lag behind. A few years ago, father Charles Mau went viral when he shared the appalling conditions he encountered while changing his daughter.

That's why Chronicles of Daddy blogger Muhammed Nitoto decided to share his solution to the problem: taking his daughter into the women's bathroom instead. In a viral Instagram post, Nitoto explained that he does so to "protect" his daughter from "all things that aren't for them, and the men's bathroom is 100% one of those things."

For 27 years, she photographed her parents waving goodbye. The final shot is heartbreaking.

Saying goodbye to loved ones can be a tender, bittersweet ritual, especially when those goodbyes accumulate over decades. For photographer Deanna Dikeman—known on Instagram as @deannadikeman—documenting these moments became a powerful, long-term project. Over 27 years, she snapped photos of her parents waving farewell in their driveway, culminating in one final image that feels like a punch to the gut.

A 27-year tradition
What began in 1991 as a casual snapshot turned into an ongoing series Dikeman informally called “Leaving and Waving.” Every time she left her parents’ home, she would pause to capture them standing in the driveway, hands raised in a goodbye wave. In an Instagram post shared by @the.pinklemonade, her images spanned from the early ‘90s until October 2017. The collection is currently on display at Réseau L U X (@reseau_lux) in Paris.

Mom's basement makeover gives her daughters a rent-free start in life

How children leave the home varies across generations, cultures and even individual families. For some, turning 18 marks a race toward independence, while others linger in the nest until they're pushed out with a “good luck” and a swift kick in the rump. In today’s world of skyrocketing housing costs, however, many families are rethinking these norms, choosing support over separation.

One TikTok mom, @lxxndaa_, is breaking the mold by giving her daughters a head start—rent-free. In a viral video, she shared how she transformed her basement into a fully equipped apartment for her daughters. This move has earned her widespread admiration and over 16.6 million views.
