When 16-year-old Melissa Mccabe couldn’t find a babysitter for prom night, she came up with the sweetest solution—she brought her toddler son, Arthur, as her date. The young mom from the U.K. gave birth at 15 and says her son has been a "little blessing" ever since. "When prom came around, no one could really have him and I wanted him to be a part of my prom day. I ordered him a suit and took him with me. All of the teachers were saying how gorgeous he looked," Mccabe told The Liverpool Echo.

She added, "It was amazing to take him along and also have good pictures taken of us. We don’t really have any nice up-to-date pictures of us. He loved it and he particularly loved all the snacks!”

The TikTok video Melissa posted of their prom adventure has now been viewed over 1.6 million times, racking up more than 227,000 likes. While there were a few critical voices, the overwhelming response has been positive. “I’ve had the odd couple of negative comments but I’ve also had messages of girls who are pregnant and are still in school and are worried about going back to school. I’ve mainly had loads of people being really supportive which is really nice because it's coming from people I don’t know,” she shared.

“Arthur is genuinely the most kind-hearted little boy. He loves everyone around him and he’s so spoiled,” she added.

Following her pregnancy during the lockdown, Mccabe recalls the difficult reactions she faced. "When I found out I was pregnant obviously I was really young. It was hard because everyone told me I was ruining my life and I wasn’t going to get my GCSEs," she said. “So many people make comments when I’m out with him. Often people think he’s my little brother and when I tell them he’s mine, their attitude completely changes. Older people especially find it disgusting because obviously, their way was to get married first and then have kids."

Despite the criticism, the support from her teachers and classmates made prom night unforgettable. “It was so nice because people who I don’t normally even speak to were coming up and saying how cute Arthur is and saying how proud they are of me," she recalled. "I couldn’t have asked for better support from my teachers at school. My deputy head and my form tutor especially have been so supportive throughout it all. They’re the people who’ve got me through the bad times being a mum.”

Melissa completed her GCSEs in June 2022 and is now planning to study Health and Social Care at college. “I am proud of myself," she said. "Especially considering Arthur only has one parent, I think I’ve done a good job.”

Man gets mocked at the gym but a fitness expert turns the moment into a lesson in kindness

Gym culture can be a powerful force for good—offering a space to push limits, build confidence, and find community. But when social media antics and public shaming warp it, it can become a source of anxiety instead. That’s exactly what happened when TikTok user @nikkii_fitness, a self-described bodybuilder and health coach, posted a video mocking a man’s workout. What she likely didn’t expect was the wave of backlash—and the powerful clapback from fitness influencer @thejoeyswoll, who used the moment to teach a vital lesson about respect and gym etiquette.

The video that crossed a line

In the now-deleted video, Nikki filmed a man working out and sarcastically asked viewers, “What do you think he's doing? What do you think he's working? I don't know either.” The man was performing a movement with dumbbells that looked unfamiliar to some, leading Nikki to make a joke out of it for her followers.

Betty White, a beloved icon known for her wit, warmth, and fearless spirit, left an indelible legacy not just through her work on screen, but in the stands she took behind the scenes—often long before it was popular to do so. One of the most powerful examples of this came in the 1950s, when White was asked to remove a Black dancer from The Betty White Show because of the color of his skin. Her response? Classic Betty: “I’m sorry, but he stays...Live with it!”

This was during the height of racial segregation in America, and the performer in question was tap dancer Arthur Duncan, a young and incredibly talented artist at the time. Vuong, in an interview with The Press Democrat, admitted being surprised by his daughter's video and acknowledged the sadness it captured. The pandemic forced them to shorten their hours, closing early at 7:30 pm instead of the usual 9 pm, as they struggled to meet expenses.

Following the viral video, Lee's Noodle House was flooded with new customers, an overwhelming response that deeply touched the family. Lee followed up with more TikTok videos, sharing additional details about their Vietnamese dishes and expressing heartfelt gratitude. She wrote in one caption, "The amount of love and responses from the TikTok community has been insane! Also, thank you to the customers who have been coming for years, too! The comment section has brought my parents and me to tears. We are so grateful for all the support and for everyone who is coming out! We hope you can continue to spread the word about our small family business. My parents are the hardest workers I know and I just want happiness and good health for them. Please remember to be patient, as they are the only ones working!"

The incredible support from the community reminded everyone about the critical importance of helping local businesses through challenging times. Lee's touching video not only spotlighted the family's struggles but also showcased the positive potential of social media when used to unite and uplift others.

The Lee family continues to express their immense gratitude, hoping their newfound success will continue. It's beautiful when a simple act of kindness can profoundly impact lives, especially for those dedicated small businesses at the heart of our communities.
