Encountering assumptions about gender capabilities can be incredibly frustrating, especially when women are underestimated. Jules, a U.S. women's top 100 chess champion who has been competing since childhood, recently turned the tables on some unsuspecting street chess players who openly mocked her—until they realized too late that she was no amateur.

Jules, who shares chess-related content under the TikTok handle @julesgambit, posted a video capturing this unforgettable moment. She captioned her video, "The ending though," and included text overlay reading, "When they think you can't play because you are wearing bows."

In the video, Jules sits down for a street chess match against a man surrounded by several other male spectators. After making aggressive moves and theatrically celebrating each small win, the man confidently motioned as if he had already won the match. However, Jules swiftly executed her final winning move, leaving him visibly shocked and the audience cheering loudly. She celebrated by making a chef's kiss gesture with both hands.

Viewers quickly flooded the video's comments to express their delight and share personal experiences. User @malierzz humorously wrote, "Can someone who plays tell me what’s happening? I mean I understand a queen is important af but there’s no check. Is it just that he lost his queen so early?" Another viewer, @tnza70, questioned the man's reaction: "What happened? She put the bishop under attack from tours and Black’s king is generally in a completely different direction, then what did he freak out about? Then just play and play."

@sste.l.a summed up the moment perfectly, remarking, "It's only good because he was being cocky a second ago but then again, it's soooo good."

@catch.these.vibes humorously added, "Even the man in the back couldn’t keep up meanwhile she wondering 'now why the f*** would you do that?'" @energieheilung related similar experiences, sharing, "Same with the taxi drivers at main station with Backgammon. Like, chill out! I'm not bewitching the dice."

Commenter @the.christine emphasized the satisfying nature of Jules' victory: "Old men are often cocky and condescending and throw tantrums, so seeing them lose a game they were so aggressive about, to a woman they underestimated, is peak entertainment."

The viral video garnered more than 4.9 million views and over 808k likes. In another clip, Jules highlighted the gender-related struggles women chess players often encounter. "Playing chess as a woman be like..." she captioned a video showing her and fellow female chess players enjoying a night out. In response, a user named @rtm135 commented, "Something tells me that not a single one of you actually knows how to play chess." Jules responded to this comment by pointing out, "The irony is immense."

Why millennials are saying Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince is the greatest TV dad ever

Sitcoms hit a peak in the 80s and 90s—and most Millennials can claim that they 'grew up' with them. A lot of time it was the father figures in these TV shows who proved to be standout characters, but one dad captured Millennials hearts over all the rest: Uncle Phil, played by actor James Avery in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Uncle Phil was deemed the best sitcom dad by Millennials, and he earned the title from one of his show's most impactful scenes from the episode "Papa's Got a Brand New Excuse" that aired in May 1994.

In it, Will (played by actor Will Smith) spends time with his dad Lou, who has been absent for the past 14 years. Uncle Phil is distrustful of Lou and protective over his nephew Will. So when Lou decides to dip out on a trip he planned with Will, Uncle Phil steps into Will's pain and supports him. It plays out as one of the most emotional scenes Millennials can remember–making Uncle Phil the best TV dad in their eyes.

Dad explains how he 'protects' daughter by taking her into the women's bathroom

While some states have made great progress in improving the child changing stations in men's bathrooms, many still lag behind. A few years ago, father Charles Mau went viral when he shared the appalling conditions he encountered while changing his daughter.

That's why Chronicles of Daddy blogger Muhammed Nitoto decided to share his solution to the problem: taking his daughter into the women's bathroom instead. In a viral Instagram post, Nitoto explained that he does so to "protect" his daughter from "all things that aren't for them, and the men's bathroom is 100% one of those things."

Mom's basement makeover gives her daughters a rent-free start in life

How children leave the home varies across generations, cultures and even individual families. For some, turning 18 marks a race toward independence, while others linger in the nest until they're pushed out with a “good luck” and a swift kick in the rump. In today’s world of skyrocketing housing costs, however, many families are rethinking these norms, choosing support over separation.

One TikTok mom, @lxxndaa_, is breaking the mold by giving her daughters a head start—rent-free. In a viral video, she shared how she transformed her basement into a fully equipped apartment for her daughters. This move has earned her widespread admiration and over 16.6 million views.
