A Houston musician turned an unfortunate car break-in into a hilarious moment when the thief who targeted him found out he had less money than they did. Michael Rowlands Jr. (@dressy.fits) took to TikTok to share the ironic twist, where his story quickly went viral, racking up over 35 million views.

Rowlands' car was broken into during a workout session at his local gym, and his wallet was stolen. But instead of panicking, he found himself laughing when he started receiving real-time notifications that the thief’s attempts to use his credit cards were being repeatedly declined.

In his viral video, Rowlands shared his reaction to the situation:

"How does it feel to know that you broke into the car of someone who is more broke than you?"

— Michael Rowlands Jr. (@dressy.fits)

According to Newsweek, Rowlands returned to his car after working out, only to find his window smashed and his wallet gone. As he waited for the Houston Police to arrive, his phone was flooded with notifications. Each one was another failed transaction from the thief attempting to make purchases at a nearby gas station.

Instead of feeling violated or angry, Rowlands couldn't help but see the humor in the situation.

"I started laughing because I could see he was probably getting more frustrated than I was."

TikTok reacts: “At this point, they should just give you $20”

Rowlands' humorous approach to the situation resonated with thousands of TikTok users, who flooded the comments section with their own experiences and jokes.

Another user, @j.jefferson.artist, shared a similar story: "It’s happened to me too, here in Houston. (...) I’m sorry this happened to you."

@britneykeismommy added, "Happened to me. They went to the gas station first and it declined for $1.50. I died laughing like buddy all my accounts are negative."

"At this point, they should just give it back and give you $20."

Tracking the thief: A silver Jeep and some distinctive curls

A few days after his initial post, Rowlands followed up with another TikTok, revealing CCTV footage of the thief and his getaway vehicle—a silver Jeep. He also speculated on the suspect’s appearance based on what he saw in the footage.

"I know he has long, black curls because I saw the shape of the curls whenever he darted his head over, and he also has facial hair," Rowlands explained.

He ended the video by encouraging his followers to help identify and catch the thief.

Turning misfortune into laughter

Despite the frustration of having his car broken into, Rowlands' reaction is a reminder that sometimes, finding humor in a bad situation is the best way to move forward. And if there's one lesson to take away from this—if you're going to rob someone, you might want to check their bank balance first.

Family’s easygoing note comforts neighbors about dog on roof

When wandering through a calm residential area, anyone who sees a pooch casually chilling on a rooftop would probably do a good old-fashioned double take. Worried passersby might even knock on the door, warning, “Hey, I’m not sure if you noticed, but your dog is on the roof.”

Turns out, the homeowners are completely aware of their canine’s preferred vantage point. Their Golden Retriever, Huckleberry, apparently loves hanging out up high, no big deal.

5-year-old best friends get the same haircut so they could 'confuse' their teacher. It didn't work.

With the way some things are going these days, it's nice to be reminded that we aren't born intolerant. The innocence with which children view the world gives hope that one day we can hold onto the idea that skin color is not a defining characteristic.

While tolerance may be at its peak for humans as a species, the constant barrage of bad news and hate speech that fill our lives lately makes it feel like that isn't the case. Seriously, have you been on Twitter lately? It's a hellscape. During our most impressionable years, we're exposed to the bias and prejudices of those around us and begin to shape our own based on them. Hate is learned, and it usually takes a kid to remind us of that.

Vintage Hollywood bloopers are the behind-the-scenes gold we didn't know we needed

Hollywood’s Golden Age often feels untouchable—a world of glamour, poise, and polished perfection. But a recent viral TikTok video featuring rare bloopers from classic Hollywood films offers a much-needed reminder that even the most iconic stars of yesteryearwere, at their core, only human. The video, shared by @vintagehistory, has racked up millions of views, delighting social media users with moments of Hollywood legends breaking character and dropping their carefully crafted personas in ways that feel hilariously relatable.

Jimmy Stewart, a bit of swearing, and delightful chaos

One standout moment in the video features Jimmy Stewart, Hollywood’s quintessential everyman, seen botching a scene after misunderstanding camera directions. The result? An endearingly confused Stewart fumbling through his marks with his signature charm. "Oh, you're following me? I didn't know that!" he quips as the crew laughs. And, of course, like many of his fellow stars, his polished “Transatlantic” accent disappears the moment the scene falls apart, revealing his more natural speaking voice.
