Adoption transforms lives, giving children a chance at love, stability, and a forever family. Every year, more than 250,000 children enter foster care, but not all find permanent homes. For one 5-year-old in Bernalillo, New Mexico, that dream finally came true—and he made sure everyone in the courtroom knew just how much it meant to him.

In a heartwarming moment captured on video and reported by USA TODAY, the young boy surprised his new mom, Jennifer Hubby, by speaking up during the adoption hearing. When the judge asked if anyone wanted to say something, the little boy raised his hand.

A moment that melted hearts

As the courtroom fell silent, the boy spoke from the heart:

"I wanted to say that I love my mom so much and she's the best mom I ever had."

His words brought his mother to tears, and he reached over to hug her. Even the judge was visibly moved, responding with warmth and encouragement.

"Oh my gosh. Well, you know what? It's important to tell people you love them and that they care about you. So, you're a lucky guy."

She continued:

"I am glad you love them. That's what we're supposed to be doing. It's a good thing."

A long-awaited adoption finally comes true

The judge then walked over to finalize the paperwork, sealing Cameron’s adoption into his forever family.

For Hubby, this day was years in the making. She had wanted to adopt Cameron since he was born, but the adoption process was lengthy and expensive. With patience, persistence, and the support of her wife, Kimberly, she finally made it happen.

A mother’s gratitude

Following the adoption, Hubby took to Facebook to express just how much this moment meant to her.

"I have officially adopted Cameron."

In another heartfelt post, she credited her wife, Kimberly, for making it all possible.

"NONE of this would be possible without my beautiful wife."

She continued:

"Though much of the attention is on Cameron, my wife works day in and out to provide for us and give us the life we deserve."

Kimberly’s support was the foundation of their journey, and Hubby made sure to acknowledge the sacrifices and love that helped bring their family together.

The power of love and belonging

Adoption isn’t just about providing a home—it’s about creating a family where a child feels truly loved. Cameron’s story echoes another touching moment that recently went viral—a 2-year-old girl recognizing her mother during a school concert.

In a TikTok video, Amaris Traversy, who had been placed in foster care at birth, is seen standing with her preschool classmates at a Thanksgiving celebration. While the other children are singing, she can’t take her eyes off her mother in the audience.

With a huge smile, she mouths the words:

"My mommy."

Amaris had been terrified of people when she first joined the Traversy family, but with love and patience, she learned to trust and thrive.

For Cameron, his adoption day was more than just a legal process—it was the moment he could finally call his family his own. And by raising his hand in court, he ensured that everyone in the room knew just how much it meant to him.
