Love can bloom in the most unexpected ways, and for Summer Pfleger, it all started with a dare. The TikTok user, who goes by @summerwa101, shared a heartwarming video documenting how a playful challenge from her mother led her to the love of her life.

It all began when Pfleger noticed a handsome employee at the front desk of a Holiday Inn. Encouraged by her mom, she nervously picked up the phone and made a call that would change everything.

"My mom dared me to call him… so I did!"

A simple dare turned into something magical

In the video, Pfleger shared her initial hesitation before making the call. Despite her nerves, she followed through. When the employee, Ethan, answered, she told him she thought he was cute and asked if he was single. To her delight, he was—and they exchanged numbers.

"All because you made a phone call!"

What started as a dare quickly turned into a whirlwind romance. Pfleger shared updates with her followers, revealing that she and Ethan had gone on several dates. She also documented the sweet moment when he officially asked her to be his girlfriend—with a unique twist.

Since their first conversation involved her asking for a fork, Ethan made it memorable. He gave her a fork engraved with "Be my girlfriend" and the date they met.

Their love story continued with romantic gestures, including Ethan decorating a table with butterflies—Pfleger’s favorite. Eventually, on her birthday, Ethan proposed at the spot where they had their first date.

A love story that came full circle

For 27 years, she photographed her parents waving goodbye. The final shot is heartbreaking.

Saying goodbye to loved ones can be a tender, bittersweet ritual, especially when those goodbyes accumulate over decades. For photographer Deanna Dikeman—known on Instagram as @deannadikeman—documenting these moments became a powerful, long-term project. Over 27 years, she snapped photos of her parents waving farewell in their driveway, culminating in one final image that feels like a punch to the gut.

A 27-year tradition
What began in 1991 as a casual snapshot turned into an ongoing series Dikeman informally called “Leaving and Waving.” Every time she left her parents’ home, she would pause to capture them standing in the driveway, hands raised in a goodbye wave. In an Instagram post shared by @the.pinklemonade, her images spanned from the early ‘90s until October 2017. The collection is currently on display at Réseau L U X (@reseau_lux) in Paris.

apartment, front door, redesign

Her daughter's diagnosis keeps her frozen in time–so she renovated her room for a grown-up feel

Moving into your first apartment is a huge milestone that marks independence and freedom. But for TikToker LissaJade's (Lissa.jade1) 18-year-old daughter, Leah, it's something she will never get to fully experience due to an extremely rare medical condition called CHD2–described as a genetic condition that causes seizures, abnormal brain function and intellectual disabilities–as well as Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (a rare form of epilepsy).

To create a special place for Leah to spread her wings, LissaJade designed a brand new entrance for the door to Leah's room that mirrors her very own apartment–complete with a mailbox, wreath, doormat and the number "206." Besides the thoughtful additions, LissaJade also re-painted Leah's door a rich cerulean blue and installed a doorbell.

Woman's realization should make moms think twice about what they say around their daughters

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." For Kennedy Eurich, an influencer, comedian and host of the Dumber Blondes podcast, the realization hit her that the poetic phrase is nothing but a farce. She revealed in a recent episode of her show the deep impact her mom's words and treatment of herself have impacted Eurich's own self esteem and body image. And it's sparked an online conversation about the power of parents' words.

In a clip on TikTok, she opens with, "As you get older and you start developing, you kind of realize how things affected you growing up. And one of those things is how my mom talks about herself," Eurich explains. She goes on to say that her mom is "insecure, which I don't understand. But all growing up she would say things about herself and put herself down."

Quick-thinking 11-year-old Girl Scout saves dad after he collapses at home

In a heart-stopping moment that could have ended in tragedy, 11-year-old Vada Carawan became a real-life superhero. It was just another seemingly ordinary day in Virginia Beach, Virginia, when Vara’s father clutched his chest in pain and collapsed of sudden cardiac arrest, thrusting Vara into an unimaginable situation. Luckily, she still had the memory of a recent Girl Scout CPR training session still fresh in her mind, so, with nerves of steel, she stepped up and performed the chest compressions that kept her dad alive until help arrived.
