Some shopping trips come with unexpected surprises, and for one thrifter, a routine Goodwill visit turned into an unforgettable moment. TikTok user Lynora (@marthainfused) shared her remarkable find—a Coach handbag for just $6.99. But it wasn’t just the deal of the day; inside the purse, she discovered something far more valuable.

“Got this Coach bag at Goodwill. I paid $6.99 for it,” she shared in her video. “Wait till you find out what’s inside.” The bag itself was in decent condition—slightly worn but still very much usable. As Lynora inspected it further, she noticed something unusual beneath the base cover. What she found left her stunned.

A hidden treasure and a powerful story

Underneath the fabric lining at the bottom of the purse was an envelope. Inside? A surprising $300 in cash—along with a handwritten note from the bag’s previous owner, a woman named Martha. The message revealed the touching and unexpected reason for the hidden money.

"I have three children. They will give my things to Goodwill when I die. So, I am putting their inheritance inside all my favorite things."

But Martha’s story didn’t stop there. She went on to explain why this particular handbag held sentimental value—one that carried a history of betrayal and resilience.

“I acquired this bag after my husband’s mistress left it at my home in a hurry,” she wrote. “I came home early from a visit to my parents in Connecticut, and she must have left her bag and shoes.”

Instead of discarding the bag, Martha decided to claim it as her own. “I carried this bag every day. I wonder if my husband knew it was his girlfriend’s,” she mused. But as time passed, the bag no longer held significance for her children, prompting her to donate it—with a little surprise tucked inside.

Martha’s note concluded with a warm suggestion to whoever found it: “Use the money to buy yourself a new bag.”

A story that touched hearts

People online were captivated by Martha’s wit, resilience, and generosity. Many praised her lighthearted yet powerful response to a painful chapter in her life.

Another user, @bcpbby, was equally amazed, commenting, “Is this for real!? Martha, I know you must be smiling down from heaven for real!”

Lynora, deeply moved by the experience, decided to carry on Martha’s spirit of kindness. In a follow-up video, she revealed that she wanted to “pay it forward.”

"Just got back from donating a bunch of stuff at Goodwill. And you know what? I put $100 in the pocket of a pair of jeans."

She encouraged others to embrace generosity, adding, “In a world full of negativity, be a Martha.”

The power of small acts of kindness

Martha’s story is a reminder that even the smallest gestures—whether it’s a hidden note, a few unexpected dollars, or a well-loved bag—can create ripples of kindness in the world. Her humor and thoughtfulness turned an ordinary thrift-store find into a moment of inspiration, proving that a little generosity can go a long way.

Remember when you play the lotto that checking your ticket is at least as important as buying it.

A forgotten ticket. A ticking clock. And a $24M jackpot hanging in the balance

Have you ever found your phone in your jeans pocket just before tossing them in the wash? That split second of panic, relief, and sheer luck all rolled into one? Now imagine that feeling—but instead of a phone, it’s a $24 million winning lottery ticket that was hours from expiring.

That’s exactly what happened to Jimmie Smith, a retired security guard from East Orange, New Jersey. For years, he had been casually buying lottery tickets and stashing them away, never in a rush to check if he’d won anything. But when he heard a news report about an unclaimed jackpot, he decided to sift through his collection. That’s when he discovered a life-changing slip of paper buried in his closet.
