Deciding on a new hairstyle can be a challenge, and many people hesitate before making the chop—especially when it comes to bangs. But when one husband tried to use Photoshop to prove his wife wouldn’t look good with them, he wasn’t ready for the internet’s response.

Reddit user u/rickyk57 turned to the subreddit r/PhotoshopRequest, asking users to edit bangs onto his wife’s photo so she’d be convinced not to get them. Instead, the results left everyone—including him—completely shocked.

A husband’s plan backfires in the best way

The Reddit post featured two photos of his wife, a shoulder-length ash-blonde with dark roots. His request was simple:

"Please give my wife bangs so she doesn't end up getting them and crying."

It didn’t take long for Reddit’s Photoshop experts to step up. Some users aimed for realistic and flattering edits, while others took the challenge in a completely unexpected direction.

The internet proves she should get bangs

One user, u/akashharsana, took the request seriously and crafted a stunning digital makeover, complete with carefully styled curtain bangs.

"After researching curtain bangs and learning more about them, here's what I came up with, taking her current hairstyle and hairline into account," they explained.

Instead of proving his point against bangs, the edit did the exact opposite—Reddit users loved the new look and encouraged him to show the image to his wife’s hairdresser.

Commenters are all for the transformation

The post quickly went viral, and users flooded the comments with support for the haircut.

u/Sea-Owl-7646 shared their personal experience:

"I used a filter and it convinced me to get bangs. I love them! My entire life I was convinced they'd look terrible on me, but instead, I feel so much more confident and cute!"

Another user, u/thrasherchick_9, chimed in with encouragement:

"She is already so pretty, but she’d be soo pretty with the bangs! I can’t wait for her to have her glow-up."

From realistic to ridiculous: The internet gets creative

Not all edits were meant to be taken seriously. Some users had a little too much fun, taking the opportunity to experiment with wild styles.

One person gave her a short bob with bangs, and Reddit users immediately pointed out that she resembled Norwegian singer-songwriter Aurora.

Another user took things to gothic extremes, adding thick black bangs that covered her entire forehead.

Clip-on bangs: The real test

Realizing that the Photoshop edits weren’t enough, the husband took it a step further and posted a separate image of clip-on curtain bangs, wondering if they’d be a safer alternative.

That’s when u/Undercover_Sloth_123 jumped in with a review:

"Okay, so I bought those exact clip-on bangs off Amazon and they are amazing... Plus, they hold up super well to heat. I've curled and straightened them numerous times. 10/10."

Suddenly, what started as a playful attempt to prevent a haircut had completely flipped the script.

So, will she get the bangs?

With the overwhelming support from Reddit, it looks like the bangs might be happening after all. What started as a husband’s attempt to “prove her wrong” ended up making a pretty convincing argument for a makeover.

And judging by the enthusiastic reactions, there’s a good chance she’ll be booking a salon appointment very soon.
